US Highway 50 Sawmill Undercrossing Bridge Replacement (Ridgeway Drive)

Project Facts

Description

The proposed project consists of replacing the bridge on U.S. Highway 50 in El Dorado County at Ridgeway Drive (Sawmill Undercrossing), installing three lights on the eastbound off-ramp at this undercrossing and three additional lights at the Highway 50 Sly Park Undercrossing eastbound off-ramp. The work for the lighting of the Sly Park Undercrossing will take place between postmile limits 30.17-31.30. After completion of the project, the Sawmill Undercrossing will be renamed the Ridgeway Drive Undercrossing.

Project Benefits

Due to the severity of the transverse and longitudinal deck cracks, concrete spalling, and high corrosive chloride content in the concrete deck surfaces, the bridge deck is in need of major deck rehabilitation. The existing bridge columns are also in the line of sight for vehicles exiting the off-ramps in both directions. The bridge railings do not meet current design standards; and additional local road shoulders and sidewalk improvements are needed for pedestrians walking on Ridgeway Drive under the bridge.
