State Route 20 Gold Nugget Project
Project Description:
In and near Grass Valley and Nevada City, from the State Route 20/49 separation to east of Stonehill Road/Dow Road. This project will rehabilitate pavement, replace sign panels, upgrade Transportation Management System elements, rehabilitate drainage systems, and upgrade facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. This project will extend the pavement service life and improve ride quality.|
Purpose:
The purpose of the proposed project is to restore the area to a state of good repair, upgrade drainage features that have reached the end of their service life and bring roadway elements up to current standards.
Need:
The existing pavement condition shows surface distress and was expected to develop an unacceptable ride quality by the construction year. Existing culverts are severely deteriorated and require replacement. Existing sign panels and curb ramps are in poor condition or are not in compliance with current design or ADA standards.

This project is programmed in the 2020 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) and funded through the 20.XX.201.121 Pavement Preservation Program (CAPM).
