PURPOSE AND NEED:
Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to preserve and extend the existing pavement life along State Route 89, upgrade Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps to compliance and modernize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and guardrail to current standards.
Need:
The existing pavement is exhibiting signs of distress and is currently assessed to be in fair condition. By the time this project is underway in construction, the condition will necessitate the roadway maintenance work in the scope of this project. Metal Beam Guardrail within the project limits is to be upgraded to the Midwest Guardrail System to meet the latest standard. TMS elements are in poor condition along this segment of the roadway and in need of repair. This includes several traffic detector loops which will be modernized under the scope of this project. There are also three closed-circuit television (CCTV) poles that are to be installed at different locations within the project footprint. The intersections along the project route contain several substandard curb ramps which will be addressed to meet the latest ADA requirements.
FUNDING:
This project is programmed in the 2025 SHOPP and has been funded in the 20.XX.201.121 Pavement Preservation Program.
