State Route 49 Placerville Pavement Rehabilitation Project
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In and near Placerville, from 0.1 mile north of Skyline Drive to 0.1 mile north of Diana Street. PROJECT LOCATION MAP:

PURPOSE AND NEED:
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to preserve the existing pavement and prevent further deterioration of the roadway from 0.1 miles north of Skyline Drive to 0.1 mile north of Diana Street. The project also will extend the operational life of various drainage systems and modernize ADA facilities.
Need: Existing pavement within the project limits exhibits signs of distress. Based on the pavement assessment, Alligator B cracking will rise from the 2019 Automated Pavement Condition Survey (APCS) measurement of 3.93% to 25.25% by 2028. If conditions are not addressed, the existing pavement is expected to further deteriorate, which would result in higher maintenance costs.
Culvert assessment indicates multiple culvert systems are in need of rehabilitation. Drainage systems within the project limits in poor condition require restoration or replacement to restore functionality and improve long-term performance. Hydraulic checks will be performed to confirm adequate conveyance, minimize roadway ponding, and provide outlet protection where required.
Funding: This project is programmed in the 2024 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) and has been funded in the 20.XX.201.121 Pavement Preservation Program.
