State Route 20 Stafford Way Intersection Safety Improvement

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

In Yuba City, at the intersection of State Route 20 and Stafford Way, this project will install a new traffic signal, new intersection lighting, curb ramps, and pavement markings and delineation. The project will improve safety and reduce the number and severity of collisions at the intersection.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this project is to improve safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians at the intersection and reduce the number of serious injury collisions occurring at this location.

NEED:

The intersection experienced 33 collisions over a three-year period (July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020), resulting in 28 injuries. The collision rate at this intersection is higher than the statewide average for similar facilities.

 
FUNDING:
This project is programmed in the 2024 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) and is funded in the 20.XX.201.010 Safety Improvements Program.
 
COST ESTIMATE:
Support Cost: $2,040,000
Capital Cost: $2,870,000
Total Project Cost: $4,910,000

 Design Completed June 25, 2025
 Advertise Project August 11, 2025
 Begin Construction  November 3, 2026
 Complete Construction October 2027
