PURPOSE AND NEED:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to restore, upgrade and extend the electrical and mechanical operational systems of the Sacramento River Bridge (Rio Vista Bridge) No. 23-0024, which is a moveable bridge that serves both vehicular and marine traffic.NEED:
The existing electrical and mechanical systems of the Sacramento River (Rio Vista) bridge (including the two tower elevators) are at the end of their useful service life and need to be replaced to maintain the serviceability of this moveable bridge for both roadway and navigational traffic.FUNDING:
This project was programmed in the 2022 SHOPP and has been funded with 20.XX.201.131 Major Damage (Permanent Restoration) Program.
