El Dorado/Placer State Route 49 Pavement Rehabilitation Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In El Dorado County from 0.1 mile south of Rattlesnake Bar Road to Placer County line; also in Placer County, from the county line to Elm Avenue in Auburn. Rehabilitate pavement and drainage systems, construct maintenance vehicle pullouts, and upgrade signs, guardrail, and facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

PURPOSE AND NEED:

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to preserve the existing pavement structure and prevent further deterioration of the roadway from approximately 0.1 miles south of Rattlesnake Bar Road in El Dorado County to Elm Avenue in the City of Auburn in Placer County.

Need: The existing pavement within the project limits exhibits signs of distress. This project is needed to extend the operational life of the existing pavement, as well as various drainage systems, upgrade non-compliant signage, enhance pedestrian facilities to meet ADA standards, and improve all safety features within the project limits. The project also reduces future higher maintenance costs.

Funding: This project is programmed in the 2024 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) and has been funded in the 20.XX.201.121 Pavement Preservation Program.
