Inquiry:

In relation to the above-mentioned project, currently the only license accepted for this job is a Class A. Gaub Excavating and Trucking holds a C-12 license and has been allowed by CalTrans as well as other counties to perform identical work. Because there is no specialized work that isn't covered by a C-12 license, we would request that a C-12 license be allowed to complete this project.

Response:

“Licenses allowed to bid on this contract are: “A” General Engineering contractor, and C-42 Sanitation System Contractor.

Specialty C license requirements are determined through evaluation of individual bid items.  To be considered for the work, a C license must be able to perform a majority of the individual bid item work under their license.  This contract does not contain enough bid item (non-incidental) work under the Earthwork and Paving designation to qualify for this drainage rehabilitation contract.”
