Placer/Nevada Counties - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects continue in Placer and Nevada counties.
Motorists will experience delays with each project. If traveling across the entire corridor, the cumulative delay may reach up to two hours depending on traffic volumes. Caltrans encourages motorists to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor and check QuickMap for real-time roadway information.
Here is the breakdown for next week in geographical order:
Eastbound I-80
- Blue Canyon Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Applegate and Weimar, various lane and ramp closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 12 through Thursday, July 16. Work is also scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, July 17 to 7 a.m. Saturday, July 18.
- Alta Pavement Improvement Project at Gold Run, various lane closures are scheduled from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 17.

Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project
- Between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, various lane and ramp closures are scheduled around the clock from 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 through 10 a.m. Friday, July 17.
- Crystal Springs on- and off-ramps are closed until further notice. Motorists will detour eastbound to Baxter and return westbound on I-80 to Crystal Springs.
- Drum Forebay on- and off-ramps are closed until further notice. Motorists will detour eastbound to the next available exit and return westbound on I-80 to Drum Forebay.
- Drum Forebay Drainage Restoration Project at the Whitmore Maintenance Station, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 15.
- Blue Canyon Pavement Rehabilitation Project between the Whitmore Maintenance Station and Emigrant Gap, various lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 12 through Thursday, July 16. Work is also scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, July 17 through 7 a.m. Saturday, July 18.

Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project
- Eastbound I-80 off-ramp to State Route 20 (SR 20) is closed until Friday, July 17. Motorists will detour along eastbound I-80 to Eagle Lakes Road, then head back westbound on I-80 and take the off-ramp to westbound SR 20.
- Intermittent traffic holds are scheduled near Nyack from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. Motorists could experience delays between 30 and 45 minutes.
- Drum Forebay Drainage Restoration Project at Rainbow, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16.
- Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, various lane closures are scheduled around the clock starting at 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 through noon Friday, July 17.
Westbound I-80
- Emergency Culvert/Rockfall Project between Floriston and Hinton Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16 and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 17.
- Drum Forebay Drainage Restoration Project between Kingvale and Rainbow, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16.

Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project
- Intermittent traffic holds near Cisco Grove are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. Motorists could experience delays between 30 and 45 minutes.
- Westbound I-80 off-ramp at Yuba Gap is closed until further notice due to the crossover in place. Motorists will detour westbound to the Emigrant Gap exit and return eastbound on I-80 to Yuba Gap.
- Drum Forebay Drainage Restoration Project at Emigrant Gap, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 and Thursday, July 16.
- Blue Canyon Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Emigrant Gap and the Whitmore Maintenance Station, various lane closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. Sunday, July 12 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 and from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 6 a.m. Friday, July 17.
- Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, various lane and ramp closures are scheduled from 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16. Work is also scheduled from 6 p.m. Friday, July 17 through 9 a.m. Saturday, July 18.
- Alta Pavement Improvement Project at Gold Run, various lane closures are scheduled from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16.
- Blue Canyon Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Weimar and Applegate, various lane closures are scheduled from 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16. Work is also scheduled from 6 p.m. Friday, July 17 through 9 a.m. Saturday, July 18.
The extended lane closures will help minimize the duration of construction and improve worker safety. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
