Sacramento - As Caltrans’ work on the final phases of the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues, nighttime closures of the 16th Street and the 10th Street off-ramps on westbound US 50 are both scheduled from 1 a.m. through 5 a.m. Thursday, July 9. In addition, westbound US 50 lane reductions are scheduled from Wednesday, July 8 at 9 p.m. through Thursday, July 9 at 5 a.m.
Construction crews will work on two joint seals across westbound US 50. Due to the location of the hinges, both westbound US 50 off-ramps at 16th Street and 10th Street will be closed for the safety of drivers and workers. This work includes lane reductions on westbound US 50 in the US 50/State Route 99/Business 80 interchange area.
Caltrans reminds drivers to use alternate routes, expect delays, stay alert when traveling through work zones and pay close attention to advance warning signs. Motorists are also encouraged to plan and allow extra travel time.
The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of equipment or materials or other unexpected events.
The ongoing work is part of the project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.
Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
