State Route 162 Construction Work Continues in Oroville
Motorists Should Expect Overnight Lane Closures Through July
BUTTE COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting motorists of upcoming traffic impacts on State Route 162 (SR 162) in Oroville as construction continues on the SR 162 paving project.
Beginning Sunday, June 21, through Wednesday, July 1, motorists can expect overnight lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between the Feather River Bridge and Foothill Boulevard.
Daytime work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. may occur occasionally. In the case of daytime work, all work will be off the roadway and traffic will not be impacted.
Construction activities during this period include:
• Pavement restoration and driveway improvements
• Demolition, grading, and concrete work
• Construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant curb ramps
• Drainage system improvements
• Traffic control operations
• Electrical work associated with traffic signals and lighting
Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zone, watch for construction personnel and equipment, and allow for extra travel time.
This $26 million project will rehabilitate pavement, improve drainage systems, upgrade pedestrian facilities to current ADA standards, and enhance traffic signal and lighting infrastructure along the corridor.
The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather conditions, material availability, or other unexpected events.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
