State Route 162 Construction Work Continues in Oroville
Motorists should expect Overnight Lane Closures through July
BUTTE COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting motorists of upcoming traffic impacts on State Route 162 (SR 162) in Oroville as construction continuing for the SR 162 Capital Preventive Maintenance (CAPM) Project.
Beginning Sunday evening, June 14, through Wednesday night, July 1, motorists can expect overnight lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between the Feather River Bridge and Foothill Boulevard.
In addition, motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate electrical work associated with the project.
Construction activities during this period include:
• Pavement restoration and driveway improvements
• Demolition, grading, and concrete work
• Construction of curb, gutter, sidewalk, and ADA-compliant curb ramps
• Drainage system improvements
• Traffic control operations
• Electrical work associated with traffic signals and lighting
Motorists should anticipate minor delays, reduce speeds within the construction zone, and remain alert for crews and equipment. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained whenever possible.
No work is scheduled in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
The State Route 162 CAPM Project will rehabilitate pavement, improve drainage systems, upgrade accessibility features to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, enhance signage and guardrails, and modify or replace traffic signals and lighting.
All work is weather permitting. Construction schedules are subject to change. Caltrans thanks the public for its patience as these improvements are completed to enhance safety and extend the service life of State Route 162.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
