A construction work zone runs alongside a forested highway in a mountainous area. Heavy equipment is grading a long, narrow embankment next to the roadway, with freshly excavated dirt, erosion‑control fencing, and survey stakes visible. Traffic, including trucks and passenger vehicles, travels on the adjacent multi‑lane highway. Tall pine trees and rolling hills surround the site under an overcast sky.  A view of a highway construction zone running alongside a forested mountainside. Traffic moves on the open lanes while heavy equipment works on an excavated embankment separated by concrete barriers. Freshly graded soil, erosion‑control fencing, and construction materials line the work area, with dense evergreen trees rising on the hillside beside the roadway.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 maintains 4,385 lane miles across 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Drivers are reminded to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for safety.

Construction updates are posted on X @CaltransDist3 and Facebook CaltransDistrict3. Real-time traffic is available via Caltrans QuickMap or the QuickMap app on the App Store and Google Play.
