Sacramento -Construction on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with scheduled connector closures on three consecutive weekends at the Capital City Freeway/State Route 99 (SR 99)/U.S. Highway 50 interchange for pavement work.
With four lanes open in both directions and all traffic splits removed last December, the project has entered its final phase with rehabilitation work on key connectors.
First Connector Closure: 24-hour closure for eastbound US 50 to eastbound Capital City Freeway/Business 80 connector: Midnight Friday, April 3 to midnight Saturday, April 4.
Suggested Detour:
- Continue eastbound on US 50
- Take Exit 8B to 65th Street and turn left
- Use the loop on-ramp to westbound US 50 and continue to the connector

Second Connector Closure: 15-hour closure for northbound SR 99 to eastbound US 50 connector: 10 p.m. Friday, April 10 to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11.

Suggested Detour:
- Take SR 99 to westbound US 50
- Exit at 16th Street (Exit 5)
- Continue to W Street
- Turn left onto 15th Street
- Turn left onto X Street
- Take the 16th Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50
Third Connector Closure: 15-hour closure for eastbound US 50 to eastbound Capital City Freeway/Business 80 connector: 10 p.m. Friday, April 17 to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18.
Suggested Detour:
- Continue eastbound on US 50
- Take Exit 8B to 65th Street and turn left
- Use the loop on-ramp to westbound US 50 and continue to the connector
Caltrans reminds drivers to expect delays, stay alert in work zones, and follow posted signage. Plan for extra travel time.
This project includes pavement rehabilitation and the addition of 14 lane miles of HOV lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.
The work zone speed limit is reduced to 55 mph, and the California Highway Patrol will enforce traffic safety.
