Sacramento – As construction on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues, sign installations are scheduled next week that may cause traffic delays.

The contractor will install full-span overhead signs and additional signage along the highway. Due to the nature of the heavy equipment, crews will perform traffic breaks and close various ramps and connectors for safety.

Work Schedule:

  1. Monday, January 19, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Westbound US 50 between 65th Street and Stockton Boulevard. Sign installation just west of 39th Street.
  2. Tuesday, January 20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Westbound US 50 between 26th Street and 15th Street. Signs installed between 17th and 18th Street.
  3. Thursday, January 22, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Eastbound US 50 between 15th Street and 26th Street. Signs installed between 20th and 26th Street.
  4. Friday, January 23, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Eastbound US 50 closure between 15th Street and SR 99. Multiple signs installed at different locations.

Caltrans reminds drivers to expect delays, stay alert in work zones, and plan for extra travel time. The project rehabilitates pavement and adds 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

The work zone speed limit is 55 mph. The California Highway Patrol will enforce traffic. More information is available on the US 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project page on the Caltrans District 3 website.

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, equipment or material availability, or other construction factors.

Caltrans District 3 maintains 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Motorists are reminded to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow down for the safety of travelers and crews.
