Sacramento - Work on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with a 55-hour closure at the northbound State Route 99 (SR 99) to eastbound US 50 connector scheduled for this weekend.
The extended closure is needed for full-depth excavation of existing asphalt and re-paving of the connector. Caltrans urges motorists to plan ahead and to expect delays with additional travel time for detours.
Schedule: Friday, November 7 at 10 p.m. through Monday, November 10 at 5 a.m.
Suggested Detour:
- Northbound SR 99 motorists take the connector to westbound US 50
- Continue westbound on US 50 to 16th Street (Exit 5) or 10th Street (Exit 4B) off-ramp
- Continue onto W Street
- Turn left onto 11th Street/Riverside Boulevard
- Turn left onto X Street
- Take X Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50
The ongoing work is part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/ I-5 interchange to the US 50/ Watt Avenue interchange.
Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph, and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement. For more information visit the U.S. Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project on the Caltrans District 3 website.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction related issues. Extended closures help minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
