EL Dorado - Caltrans is advising motorists of a scheduled multi-day closure of State Route 193 (SR 193) in El Dorado County next week.

An emergency replacement of a culvert at the intersection of Weed Patch Court and SR 193 is scheduled from 6 a.m. Monday, November 3 through 7 p.m. Friday, November 7. SR 193 will be closed in both directions between Ricci Road and Graybar Mine Road. Local residents will be allowed into the closure area with the hard closure being at the project site only at Weed Patch Court.

The culvert is showing significant signs of distress and needs to be replaced. The roadway above the culvert also shows signs of erosion. The concern is that a major rainfall event could lead to significant water runoff which could then further compromise the culvert and potentially wash out the highway above.

Detour information:

For motorists traveling from Georgetown to Greenwood/Cool please take SR 193 south towards Placerville to State Route 49 (SR 49) and then head back north on SR 49 to reach Cool and SR 193 to reach Greenwood.

For motorists traveling from Cool/Greenwood to Georgetown, please take SR 49 south towards Placerville and then head back north on SR 193 to reach Georgetown.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, availability of equipment or materials, or other unexpected events.
