Weekend Closures Scheduled for Eastbound 50 in Sacramento

Sacramento – Construction on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with additional closures this weekend starting tonight. 
 
The 34th Street off-ramp from eastbound US 50 will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday. Additional nighttime closures on eastbound US 50 are scheduled for lanes #3 and #4 and at the on- and off-ramps at X, 15th and 16th streets to accommodate the work. 
 
The scope of work involves full-depth removal and replacement of concrete on the travel lane, asphalt replacement on the shoulders at the eastbound US 50 to 34th Street (Exit 7) off-ramp, and the southbound Business 80 to eastbound US 50 connector off-ramp to the 34th Street exit. 
 
56-Hour Full Ramp Closure Schedule:
  • 9 p.m. Friday, October 31 to 5 a.m. Monday, November 3
Detour Route:
  • Continue on eastbound US 50
  • Take the 65th Steet off-ramp (Exit 8B)
  • Turn left at 65th Street
  • Take the 65th Street loop on-ramp to westbound US 50
  • Continue to Stockton Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 7)
  • Turn left on Stockton Boulevard to reach 34th Street

Nighttime Eastbound US 50 Closures:
  • Eastbound US 50 mainline lane #3 and #4 from 15th Street off-ramp to the 34th Street off-ramp
  • Eastbound US 50 to X St. at 27th on-ramp
  • Eastbound US 50 to 15th Street off-ramp
  • East bound US 50 16th Street on-ramp 
Detour Route for the nighttime closures:
  • Proceed to the nearest open ramp. 
Nighttime Eastbound US 50 Closure Schedule:
  • 11 p.m. Friday, October 31 to 5 a.m. to Saturday, November 1
  • 11 p.m. Saturday, November 1 to 5 a.m. to Sunday, November 2 and
  • 11 p.m. Sunday, November 2 to 5 a.m. November 3.
Caltrans reminds drivers to expect delays, stay alert when traveling through work zones and pay close attention to advance signage posted before the traffic split. Motorists are also encouraged to plan and allow extra travel time.
 
The ongoing work is part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.
