Placer/El Dorado County - Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures next week due to multiple construction projects in the Lake Tahoe region.

In Tahoe City along State Route 28 (SR 28), drainage and utility work continue for a $31.7 million Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka.

Work is scheduled from 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 2 until noon Friday, September 5 between Mackinaw Road and Jackpine Street. This work will occur in the westbound direction of SR 28 along the shoulder. Access to cross streets and driveways will remain open, however street parking may be restricted at various times in the construction zone.

The Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City remains closed to all traffic until Saturday, November 15. Traffic will detour onto Lake Boulevard to access State Route 89 (SR 89) and SR 28. West Lake Boulevard remains open for business and transit center access with only the Fanny Bridge being closed. The pedestrian and bicycle path across the Truckee River Dam will remain open throughout the project. Pile driving and demolition of the bridge will be occurring this weekend and into next week, which will create noise and vibration in the area.
