Placer County - Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures next week due to multiple construction projects in the north Lake Tahoe region.
The Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City is scheduled to close for 12 weeks beginning Monday, August 11 at midnight. Traffic will be detoured onto Lake Boulevard to access State Route 89 (SR 89) and State Route 28 (SR 28). West Lake Boulevard will remain open for business and transit center access with only the Fanny Bridge being closed. The pedestrian and bicycle path across the Truckee River Dam will remain open throughout the project.
Along SR 28 in Placer County, drainage and electrical work continues in preparation for a $31.7 million Caltrans pavement project.
In Tahoe City along SR 28, work is scheduled Monday, August 11 through Thursday, August 14 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Mackinaw Road and Jackpine Street. Work is also scheduled Friday, August 15 from 7 a.m. until noon.
The paving portion of the project in Tahoe City is now scheduled to begin Sunday evening, August 17. Crews will focus first on eastbound SR 28 around Grove Street. More details will be announced next Friday.
In addition, work is scheduled in Tahoe Vista along SR 28 Sunday, August 10 through Friday, August 15 from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. between National Avenue and Brassie Avenue.
Broadband utility work is scheduled along SR 28 Monday, August 11 through Thursday, August 14 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Fox Street in Kings Beach and the Nevada state line. Work is also scheduled Friday, August 15 from 7 a.m. until noon.
Along SR 89 in Placer County, guardrail repair is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect Monday, August 11 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Olympic Valley Road and Rampart.
Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, availability of equipment or material, or other unexpected events.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
