Placer/El Dorado County - Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures next week due to utility and construction projects in the Lake Tahoe region.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28) in Placer County, drainage and electrical work continues in preparation for the $31.7 million Caltrans pavement project. Work is scheduled along both directions of SR 28 Sunday, July 20 through Friday, July 25 from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. between West Agatam Avenue in Tahoe Vista and Fox Street in Kings Beach.

Utility work for the Middle Mile Broadband Project is scheduled along both directions of SR 28 Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. between the State Route 267 junction and the Nevada state line.

Utility work along SR 28 in Tahoe City is scheduled Sunday, July 20 through Friday, July 25 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. between Commons Beach Road and Jackpine Street.

Along State Route 89 (SR 89) in Placer County, work continues for the West Shore Bike Trail Rehabilitation. One-way traffic control will be in effect Sunday, July 20 through Friday, July 25 from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. between Sugar Pine Road and Ward Creek. An additional utility project along SR 89 is scheduled for work between South Street and Fern Street Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Construction of a new roundabout at U.S. Highway 50 and Pioneer Trail in Meyers continues, with work scheduled from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20 – 10 a.m. Friday, July 25. No work is scheduled between 6 a.m. – 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
