WHEATLAND — Caltrans is alerting motorists that nighttime paving operations are scheduled to resume Sunday, June 1 on State Route 65 (SR 65) in Wheatland as part of an ongoing $10.4 million pavement rehabilitation project.
Work will take place nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should expect minor delays, intermittent lane closures, and reduced speeds through the construction zone.
The State Route 65 Wheatland Pavement Rehabilitation Project includes:
- Rehabilitating pavement and drainage systems
- Adding new bike lanes and a Class I multi-use path
- Enhancing crosswalk visibility and upgrading ADA curb ramps
- Installing a new traffic signal at McDevitt Drive
- Improving ride quality and extending pavement service life
The work zone extends from just north of State Street to just north of Evergreen Drive. Construction is anticipated to be complete by July.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
