Sacramento - Work on the $529 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with a traffic shift on eastbound US 50 in place by Wednesday, May 21 at 5 a.m.
The contractor is reconfiguring eastbound and westbound traffic for the next construction stage that will remove the existing bypass lanes on westbound US 50.
The left three lanes of eastbound US 50 will be split into two bypass lanes on the left side of the median barrier and a third bypass lane on the right side of the median barrier. All three lanes will be through lanes for the duration of this stage of construction.
- The left two inside lanes (#1 and #2) will split on the left side of the median barrier
- The left third lane (#3) will split on the right side of the median barrier.
The far-right lane (#4) will remain open for access to all exits between 34th Steet and Watt Avenue.
The US 50 eastbound traffic split will start after the 15th Street off-ramp between I-5 and southbound State Route 99 (Exit 6B) and ends after the Stockton Boulevard on ramp to eastbound US 50.
Caltrans reminds drivers to stay alert in work zones and pay attention to the advance signs posted before the traffic split. Drivers are encouraged to plan and allow extra travel time, as delays are expected.
Updated Schedule:
- Reconfiguration work for the new alignment began Monday, May 12 at 5 a.m.
