Placer County - Caltrans is advising motorists of the resumption of a broadband installation project that began last year on State Route 28 (SR 28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.
The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Utility work is scheduled along SR 28 at the following locations and times:
- Monday, April 28 from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Center Street and Onyx Street in Carnelian Bay and Estates Drive and East Agatam Avenue in Tahoe Vista.
- Tuesday, April 29 from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Center Street and Sahara Drive in Carnelian Bay and Anderson Road and Beach Street in Tahoe Vista.
- Wednesday, April 30 from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Sahara Drive and Granite Road and Anderson Road and Beach Street in Tahoe Vista.
- Thursday, May 1 from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Granite Road and Beach Street.
- Friday, May 2 from 6 a.m. until Noon between Granite Road and Beach Street.
Motorists could encounter total delays up to 15 minutes between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR 28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
