GRIDLEY – Caltrans is alerting motorists that overnight construction work on State Route 99 in Gridley is scheduled to begin Sunday, April 13 as part of a major roadway improvement project.

Crews will be working from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Hollis Lane and Arch Street in downtown Gridley. Work will include underground drainage installation, clearing operations, and the demolition of curbs and sidewalks. Traffic control will be in place during construction hours. Motorists should be prepared for short delays and drive with caution through the work zone.

Next two weeks of scheduled night work:
  • Utility locating at multiple locations along the corridor
  • Stump removal from Hollis Lane to Standish Lane
  • Saw cutting for drainage in the Tungsten area
  • Clearing brush from Hollis Lane to Archer Avenue

This is the first phase of a $30 million project to rehabilitate the pavement and upgrade the corridor’s Transportation Management System (TMS), drainage, and pedestrian access. The project includes improvements to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Traffic control will remain in place as needed throughout the summer as construction progresses. The project is expected to be completed by October 2026.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
