Sacramento - Work on the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with a traffic shift along eastbound US 50 scheduled for Monday, April 14.

The traffic shift is required for striping, pavement and rehabilitation work to the far-left lanes of eastbound US 50. The traffic split will start just before the 59th Street off-ramp and will end after the Howe Avenue on-ramp to eastbound US 50. There will be two by-pass lanes on the left and two through lanes on the right with the construction work zone in the middle.

Caltrans reminds motorists to be work zone alert and pay attention to the signs that have been placed in order to know in advance which lane to use. Motorists are also urged to plan ahead and to expect delays with additional travel time.

Eastbound US 50 Two Left Lanes:

  • By-pass lanes from west of 59th Street off-ramp to Howe Avenue.

Eastbound US 50 Two Right Lanes for:

  • Exit 8A to 59th Street off-ramp.
  • Exit 8B to 65th Street off-ramp.
  • Exit 9 to State Route 16 / Howe Avenue / Power Inn Road

Schedule: Monday, April 14 at 5 a.m. through Monday, April 22 at 5 a.m., weather permitting. The ongoing work is part of a $529 million project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement. For more information visit the U.S. Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project on the Caltrans District 3 website.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.
