State Route 49 Closure Scheduled for Permit Work

PLACER COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting motorists about an upcoming 7-hour closure of State Route 49 (SR 49) between Auburn and the Placer/El Dorado County line for permit work by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).
 
The full closure is scheduled Tuesday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between the intersection of Lincoln Way/Borland Avenue and the American River. Motorists traveling along SR-49 between Placer and El Dorado counties will follow the detour along Foresthill Road and Old Foresthill Road.
 
PG&E crews are repairing power lines that cross the American River Canyon. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
