Sacramento - Work on the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with a 55-hour closure at the westbound US 50 to southbound State Route 99 (SR 99) connector scheduled for this weekend.
Caltrans urges motorists to plan ahead and to expect delays with additional travel time for detours. Southbound SR 99 motorists should use southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) as an alternate route.
Due to the striping and pavement work, there will be more 55-hour closures at this connector. Caltrans will inform motorists in advance when these closures are scheduled. Motorists should use caution when travelling during construction times and expect commercial trucks traveling in and out of the work zone.
Schedule: Friday, March 28 at 10 p.m. through Monday, March 31 at 5 a.m.
Suggested Detour:
- Westbound US 50 motorists to southbound SR 99 should continue on westbound US 50 and stay in the right lane to southbound I-5 Los Angeles.
The ongoing work is part of a $529 million project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.
Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement. For more information visit the project page on the Caltrans District 3 website.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues. For current road conditions use Caltrans’ Quick Map at quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ or download the free Quick Map app on the App Store or Google Play.
