Sacramento - Work on the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues tonight as crews will begin demolition and removal of the old pavement on westbound US 50 from Stockton Boulevard to 26th Street.

This work will involve heavy construction equipment with loud noises in the demolition area. Traffic on westbound US 50 has been shifted to allow crews to conduct this work behind a concrete barrier without needing to close additional lanes.

Demolition work is scheduled for two nights this week: tonight, and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The ongoing work is part of a $529 million project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the US 50/Interstate 5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange.

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of commercial work vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.

For more information on this project visit U.S. Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.
