Sacramento County - Caltrans is alerting motorists that starting Monday, January 6, the Paintersville bridge on State Route 160 (SR-160) near Courtland in the Delta region will be under daytime full closures for repair work.
The bridge is scheduled for ongoing parts replacements, mechanical and electrical control system upgrades.
Bridge Work Schedule:
January 6 to August 1, 2025 Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. No work will be scheduled on designated state holidays.
Detour:
- River Road and the Walnut Grove Bridge (see map).
Roadside message boards will be placed at the Paintersville and Walnut Grove bridges, along SR-160 at SR-220 and SR-84 and at various locations along the River Road. Caltrans urges motorists to use the detour or Interstate 5 as an alternate route. Motorists should plan accordingly and expect additional travel times.
Current truck restrictions will apply. California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on SR-160.
Other Delta Bridges Construction Updates:
Isleton Bridge: Work continues with parts replacements, mechanical and electrical control system upgrades with full bridge closures scheduled Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through June 30, 2025.
Rio Vista Bridge: As part of an ongoing $11.5 million project to rehabilitate the bridge deck, replace bridge rails, repave approach slabs, and construct ADA-complaint ramps, Caltrans has scheduled another 55-hour weekend closure starting Friday, January 10 at 9 p.m. through Monday, January 13 at 4 a.m. This 55-hour closure was rescheduled from December due to weather and the holiday season.
Steamboat Slough Bridge: Electrical and mechanical upgrades were completed on Monday, December 30. The bridge is back open to traffic with no restrictions.

These delta bridges were originally constructed in the early 1920s and then reconstructed or refurbished in the early 1950s. Repair work is required to ensure the safety of the structures.
Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work.
