PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.
Emergency repair work is starting to wrap up for the season, but construction continues on major projects and motorists still may experience delays up to a maximum of two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:
Eastbound I-80
- Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project
- Between Monte Vista and Crystal Springs, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 through Thursday, August 29. Work is scheduled to end at 10 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Between Crystal Springs and Drum Forebay, various lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, August 26 through 10 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Emergency Repairs Location 2
- Between Drum Forebay and Blue Canyon, lane closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, August 26 through Thursday, August 29.
- Between Blue Canyon and Nyack, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Wednesday, August 28.
- Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between Yuba Gap and the junction with State Route 20 (SR-20), lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 through Thursday, August 29. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Big Bend and Rainbow, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning 7 a.m. Monday, August 26 through 5 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Thursday, August 29.
- Emergency Repairs Location 4, the I-80 on-ramp from State Route 89 will be closed around the clock beginning 6 a.m. Monday, August 26 through 6 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Floriston Safety Improvement Project
- Between Hinton Road and Floriston, lane closures will be in place from 6 p.m. to noon the following day Sunday, August 25 through Wednesday, August 28 and from 6 p.m. Thursday, August 29 through 4 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Floriston off-ramp will be closed intermittently as needed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, August 26 through Thursday, August 29.
Westbound I-80
- Floriston Safety Improvement Project between Floriston and Hinton Road, lane closures will be in place from 2 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day Sunday, August 25 through Thursday, August 29. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place from 9 p.m. Sunday, August 25 to 8 a.m. Monday, August 26 and from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28. Work will also take place from 4 p.m. Thursday, August 29 through 4 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between the junction with SR-20 and Yuba Gap, lane closures will be in place from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Thursday, August 29.
- Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Blue Canyon and Whitmore, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning 7 a.m. Monday, August 26 through 5 a.m. Friday, August 30.
- Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following day Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28. Work is scheduled to end at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 29.
The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
