FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yolo County – Caltrans is reminding motorists of continuing nightly construction work for the Yolo Interstate 80 (I-80) Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

The work is part of a project to rehabilitate the roadway surface on I-80 and U.S. Highway 50 in Yolo County. Construction continues this weekend to put a new traffic shift in place.

Caltrans urges motorists to plan for additional travel time and to expect delays.

Scheduled Closures and Locations:

  • Eastbound lanes on I-80 at Chiles Road and eastbound U.S. Highway 50 at Harbor Boulevard to Jefferson Boulevard will be reduced to one or two lanes for K-rail (concrete barrier) removal, replacement and lane striping from 11:30 p.m. Friday at until 7 a.m. Saturday.
  • East Chiles Road to eastbound I-80 will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

The work zone is from the Yolo Causeway through West Sacramento on Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50. The $280 million project includes $47 million from Senate Bill (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour 24/7 for the safety of workers and motorists.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather conditions, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction-related issues. The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.

The department will issue construction updates on @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
