FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Butte County — Construction will start next week on a project to widen a section of State Highway 191 just south of Paradise.

Motorists may expect intermittent daytime one-way traffic control on weekdays at various locations between Airport Road and Old Clark Road through the fall. In addition, the width of the traffic lanes will be reduced by a foot to accommodate construction activity.

Teichert Construction of Sacramento is the contractor on this $16 million project that will widen the shoulders to 8 feet and stabilize wildfire-damaged slopes along the roadside. Completion is targeted for spring 2024.

Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
