FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sacramento – Caltrans has scheduled a lane closure during the daytime Saturday, February 11 for emergency construction to repair damaged pavement on State Highway 99 (SR-99) near the city of Galt.

Aging pavement and the recent storms have caused major potholes on northbound SR-99. The right (#2) lane and the on- and off-ramps at Mingo Road for northbound SR-99 will be shut down. The final opportunity to exit northbound SR-99 before the closure will be at Twin Cities Road.

Motorists should expect extended delays and plan for additional travel time in both directions. Caltrans urges motorists to use Interstate 5 as an alternate route.

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION:

  • Saturday, February 11 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for emergency pavement repairs Postmile 4.3 to 5.2, south of Twin Cities Road to north of Mingo Road (see map).

Motorists traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and should be aware of construction vehicles traveling in and out of the area. The work zone speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be present for traffic enforcement.

The roadwork is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction-related issues. Use Caltrans’ Quick Map for current road conditions at quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ or download the free Quick Map app on the App Store or Google Play. Motorists also can call the California Highway Information Network automated phone service at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
