Roseville – Caltrans is alerting motorists to expect an overnight closure of the Interstate 80 (I-80) westbound on-ramp at Atlantic Street next week for final construction improvements.
The westbound on-ramp is scheduled to be closed temporarily from 8 p.m. Monday, July 25 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 for installation of a ramp metering pole. Atlantic Street/Eureka Road motorists will be detoured along Harding Boulevard or North Sunrise Avenue to Douglas Boulevard for access to westbound I-80 during the closure (see detour map below). The construction schedule is subject to change based on weather, equipment availability or other unexpected events.
Following the installation of the new ramp meter lights, the on-ramp signals will remain green for approximately one week to allow motorists to acclimate to the new system. Beginning Monday, August 1, the ramp metering system will go live in the morning for all three lanes of the widened I-80 westbound on-ramp. Motorists are reminded that only one vehicle is permitted per green signal cycle.
The work is part of a $12 million project to expand the width of the single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road westbound I-80 on‐ramp to three lanes and replace the Miner’s Ravine Bridge. The project will reduce traffic backups and improve the operation of local streets and intersections.
Myers & Sons Construction of Sacramento is the prime contractor for the project, which is scheduled to be completed in August.
