FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Roseville – Caltrans is alerting motorists to expect an overnight closure of the Interstate 80 (I-80) westbound on-ramp at Atlantic Street this week.

The on-ramp is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26 until 5 a.m. Friday, May 27 for drainage work. Atlantic Street/Eureka Road motorists will be detoured along Harding Boulevard or North Sunrise Avenue to Douglas Boulevard for access to westbound I-80 during the closure.

Following the completion of drainage work, motorists should expect a temporary traffic shift on the westbound on-ramp Friday, May 27 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic will be shifted from the right side of the newly widened on-ramp to the left side to accommodate remaining construction.

Permanent striping work on a segment of the Miner’s Ravine Multi-Use Trail that runs underneath the on-ramp is scheduled for June 1-2. The multi-use trail reopened to bicyclists and pedestrians May 14 and is expected to remain open to users during the striping work. The construction schedule is subject to change based on weather, equipment availability or other unexpected events.

This $12 million project is expanding the width of the single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road westbound I-80 onā€ramp to three lanes and replacing the Miner’s Ravine Bridge. The project will reduce traffic backup and improve the operation of local streets and intersections.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow down in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
