FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Roseville – Caltrans is alerting motorists to expect a temporary right turn lane and #3 (right) lane closure on Atlantic Street in Roseville just prior to the Interstate 80 (I-80) westbound on-ramp this week.

Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13, the right turn lane to the westbound I-80 on-ramp and #3 (right) lane on Atlantic Street will be closed for asphalt concrete work near the intersection. Motorists turning right will be shifted into the #2 (middle) lane of Atlantic Street. The I-80 westbound on-ramp will remain open during concrete work.

In addition to the turn lane closure, pedestrians and bicyclists are reminded of a temporary detour path at the Atlantic Street/on-ramp intersection during curb ramp upgrades. The ramp on the east side of the I-80 westbound on-ramp remains closed through Wednesday, April 13 along with the shoulder area of the I-80 westbound off-ramp to Eureka Road/Taylor Road.

Pedestrians and bicyclists heading east on Atlantic Street will cross the intersection at the I-80 westbound on-ramp using the designated crosswalk. Once across the intersection, users will turn right and head south along the on-ramp before crossing northeast to return to the Atlantic Street sidewalk.

Caltrans also reminds bicyclists and pedestrians of the extended closure of the Miner’s Ravine Multi-Use Trail through mid-May for construction work. A bicycle and pedestrian detour on local streets is available during the closure.

The work is part of a $12 million project to expand the width of the existing single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound onā€ramp to include three lanes. The expansion includes replacing the on-ramp structure that crosses over the multi-use trail to support the newly widened roadway. The project is expected to reduce significant traffic backups and improve the operation of local streets and intersections.

Myers & Sons Construction of Sacramento is the prime contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed this summer.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at Caltrans District3.
