Sacramento – Caltrans is scheduled to close the westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) connector ramp to southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) in the Natomas area of Sacramento to repair a damaged concrete slab.
The closure is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8. Daytime work is required for the new concrete to set and dry.
Overhead and roadside message boards will be utilized to notify motorists of the closure and available detours. Caltrans recommends the following detour routes during the closure:
- Westbound I-80 to the northbound I-5 connector and exit at Arena Boulevard. Turn around at Arena Boulevard to get back on SB I-5.
- Continue on WB I-80 and exit at West El Camino Avenue. Turn around on West El Camino Avenue and use the EB I-80 connector to SB I-5.
Weather or other unexpected events may delay or postpone the work. Caltrans will provide updates on its Twitter and Facebook pages and on quickmap.dot.ca.gov/. The free QuickMap app is available on the App Store or Google Play. Motorists also can call the California Highway Information Network automated phone service at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
