FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PLACER COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting the trucking industry of upcoming permit-load restrictions on Interstate 80 (I-80) westbound beginning at Secret Town Road next week.

Due to emergency guardrail repair work on I-80 westbound between Secret Town Road and the Long Ravine Railroad Overcrossing, permit loads will not be authorized daily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 16 through Thursday, November 18.

For the safety of maintenance crews, Caltrans will have westbound I-80 reduced to one lane while guardrail repair is performed. Motorists are advised to expect additional travel time and delays between Secret Town Road and the Long Ravine Railroad Overcrossing.

Wide-load permit trucks are also advised to wait at the westbound I-80 Gold Run Rest Area during the permit load restriction period. Weather or other unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.

Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
