For Immediate Release

Butte County – Caltrans is postponing a Tuesday evening community open house on a proposed $33.2 million pavement rehabilitation project on State Highway 32 between Muir Avenue and the Highway 99 junction in Chico.

The outdoor event is being rescheduled to October 28 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will be conducted at the same location – the parking lot of Valley Contractors Exchange, 951 East 8th Street (westbound Highway 32), near Alder Street.

The delay will allow Caltrans staff members to update project displays and materials.

The Caltrans project is proposing to:

  • Replace the pavement and add new striping and retroreflective pavement markers between Muir Avenue and Highway 99.
  • Rehabilitate drainage systems currently in poor or fair condition.
  • Install new intersection lighting and traffic signals at various locations.
  • Upgrade curb ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties.
