FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROSEVILLE – The westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) on-ramp at Atlantic Street is scheduled for an extended closure this weekend for paving and sidewalk work.

Crews will continue paving work on the widened on-ramp structure and work on curb ramp upgrades at the Atlantic Street/on-ramp intersection that comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The westbound on-ramp to I-80 will be closed around the clock from 10 p.m. Friday, September 17 through 5 a.m. Monday, September 20.

During the extended ramp closure, westbound I-80 motorists will be detoured along Harding Boulevard or N. Sunrise Avenue to Douglas Boulevard. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.

In addition, the ADA curb upgrades along Atlantic Street will require an extended closure of the sidewalk to bicyclists and pedestrians during the same work period. Community members are advised to use the signed detour route along Wills Road, Harding Boulevard, Lead Hill Boulevard and N. Sunrise Avenue.

This $12 million project is expanding the width of the existing single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound onā€ramp to include three lanes and is replacing the existing Miner’s Ravine Bridge to support the newly widened roadway. The project is expected to reduce significant traffic backups and improve the operation of local streets and intersections.

Caltrans also is advising community members that the closure of the Miner’s Ravine Multi-Use Trail has been extended through mid-March 2022 for ongoing construction activities. Due to anticipated nice weather during the fall and winter months, construction crews will continue on-ramp work, enabling the project to be completed earlier than anticipated next year. A bicycle and pedestrian detour on local streets will be available during the trail closure.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow down in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
