Roseville – Caltrans is scheduled to close the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp at Atlantic Street tonight for construction activities.
Crews continue work to widen the on-ramp to three lanes and upgrade nearby drainage facilities, requiring the reconfiguration of temporary
concrete barriers known as k-rail on the on-ramp. The westbound on-ramp will be closed to traffic between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday, August 6.
During the temporary ramp closure, westbound I-80 motorists will be detoured along Harding Boulevard or North Sunrise Avenue to Douglas Boulevard. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.
In addition, a temporary pedestrian path is currently in place at the on-ramp entrance off Atlantic Street while sidewalks and curbs are upgraded to meet current accessibility standards. For the next two to three weeks, pedestrians may use the designated right turn lane as a walkway, which has been protected by barriers. Motorists turning right onto the westbound I-80 on-ramp should use the #3 (right) Atlantic Street lane during sidewalk construction.
The $12 million project is expanding the width of the existing single-lane Atlantic Street/Eureka Road/Interstate 80 westbound on‐ramp to include three lanes and replacing the existing Miner’s Ravine Bridge to support the newly widened roadway. The project is expected to reduce significant traffic backup and improve the operation of local streets and intersections.
For the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians, a portion of the nearby Miner’s Ravine Multi-Use Trail will be closed for construction activities through October. A bicycle and pedestrian detour on local streets will be available during the trail closure.
Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow down in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
