For Immediate Release

Sacramento and Solano County — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to perform temporary closures on the Rio Vista (State Route 12) bridge for additional parts replacement and testing late tonight into the early morning hours.

Crews will completely close the bridge and perform lift testing between the hours of Midnight to 5 a.m. Wednesday into Thursday morning. The two scheduled lifts are expected to take about 35-45 minutes each.

For precaution in case more time is needed motorists are asked to avoid using this route between these hours. To prepare Caltrans urges motorists to plan for additional travel time and to expect delays.

Current truck restrictions are enforced. California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on SR-160.

Suggested Temporary Alternate Routes:

•   For detours involving Sacramento County origins/destinations, motorists may consider using Interstate 5.

•   For other detours, motorists may consider using State Routes 4 and segments of Interstates 80 and 680.

Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” – someone’s loved one is at work.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/ or materials, and construction related issues.

For motorists using the SR-84 Real McCoy and SR-220 Ryer Island Ferries as a bridge detour, additional ferry information is located on our Caltrans Delta Ferries website.
