FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YUBA COUNTY — Southbound State Highway 70 Motorists can expect major traffic delays this weekend April 9-12 north of Marysville due to construction activity.
Butte County area travelers are advised to use Southbound State Highway 99.
Southbound State Highway 70 will be closed between Woodruff Lane and Laurellen Road Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m., Monday, April 12. Highway 70 will remain open only to adjacent residents from Laurellen Road to Woodruff Lane. Proper signage will be in place for local routes.
Southbound motorists will be directed to take eastbound Woodruff Lane to State Highway 20 and then go west on Highway 20 to the junction of Highway 70/20 in Marysville.
Northbound motorists may expect intermittent delays due to construction. Motorists wishing to access Laurellen Road during the 55-hour closure period will need to travel north from Marysville and then turn left onto Laurellen.
The closure will allow crews to tie in the newly constructed Simmerly Slough Bridge with the existing highway. The work is part a $60.4 million project to replace the 64-year-old Simmerly Bridge north of Marysville.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
