FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic-Interfering Work Scheduled on I-80 Near Nevada State Line Westbound Motorists Should Plan for Delays Near the Construction Zone This Saturday

FARAD – Caltrans is nearing completion on the Interstate 80 Farad Ditch Slope Stabilization project with westbound travel delays of 15 minutes anticipated this Saturday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for construction activities approximately 3.5 miles west of the Nevada state line.

The work is part of a $12.9 million slope stabilization project that will restore the Farad Ditch by extending the collection area. Due to recent active weather systems in the Sierra, final construction work was postponed. The project is approximately 95 percent complete with slope erosion prevention measures and final rock collection area work planned this Saturday and in the following weeks.

Q&D Construction of Sparks, Nev. is the prime contractor for the project. While construction was initially anticipated to last for two seasons, Caltrans and Q&D Construction have made considerable progress and are pushing to complete the project within one extended construction season, weather permitting.

Caltrans reminds motorists to Be Work Zone Alert and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
