FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SACRAMENTO COUNTY – Caltrans is alerting motorists that beginning next week the Steamboat Slough bridge on State Route 160 near Courtland will be temporarily closed for an extended period.

Additional construction is needed to maintain and keep the bridge operational. The bridge is scheduled for ongoing parts replacement work.

FULL CLOSURE SCHEDULE:

  • From 5 a.m. February 8 through 5 a.m. February 27

DETOUR:

Use the Walnut Grove and Paintersville Bridges.

Advance signage has been placed at the bridge. Caltrans urges motorists to use this detour or use Interstate 5 in Sacramento County as an alternate route.

These delta bridges were originally constructed in the early 1920s and then reconstructed or refurbished in the early 1950s. Motorists should plan accordingly and expect additional travel time.

Current truck restrictions will apply. California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on State Route 160.
