FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GRASS VALLEY – Caltrans is temporarily closing the eastbound on- and off-ramps to Dorsey Drive along State Routes 20/49 for overcrossing pavement repair beginning at 6 p.m. tonight.

A break in a water line running underneath the asphalt surface of the Dorsey Drive overcrossing caused damage to the roadway and asphalt base in mid-November. Construction crews will be closing access to the Dorsey Drive overcrossing for a 24-hour period with construction activities anticipated to be completed by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Construction crews will be demolishing the existing asphalt concrete Monday night and laying new road base in preparation for paving work Tuesday morning. The westbound Dorsey Drive on- and off-ramps will remain open to provide access to the hospital and senior care facility. Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow down in construction areas for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements. The department provides construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans’ QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
