FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RIO VISTA – Caltrans is alerting motorists that the Rio Vista Bridge on State Route 12 is scheduled for partial nighttime closures next week for ongoing part replacement work.

The bridge remains safe for travel. A Caltrans contractor and structural engineers continue with the second phase of the project.

The second phase of the project refurbishes mechanical parts considered worn and due for replacement. Next week Caltrans will begin electrical upgrades for new signals, flashing beacons, and safety related items. The bridge will be under one-way traffic control from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Expect delays depending on traffic volumes and waterway traffic requiring bridge lifts. Current truck restrictions will apply. California legal trucks having a kingpin-to-rear-axle of more than 30 feet are not recommended on State Route 160.

Weather conditions could delay or cancel scheduled work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.”

For motorists using the State Route 84 Real McCoy and SR-220 Ryer Island Ferries as a bridge detour, additional ferry information is located on our Caltrans Delta Ferries website here.

Bay Area motorists can check 511 SF Bay or follow Caltrans District 4 on Twitter @CaltransD4.
