FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEVADA COUNTY – Pavement grinding work at the Interstate 80 Donner Summit Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) will continue Friday, requiring alternating closures of the rest areas.
Pavement repair work is scheduled Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Work will first begin westbound before transitioning to the eastbound rest area. The maintenance grinding work is preparing the parking lot for repaving, which is planned for later in May. Temporary closures may also be required Saturday if grinding work is not completed.
During the alternating Donner Summit rest area closures, the Gold Run rest areas along Interstate 80 will remain open for motorists and truckers.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work. Caltrans advises motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert.” The department will issue construction updates on Twitter @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3.
