NEVADA COUNTY – Pavement grinding work at the Interstate 80 Donner Summit Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRA) will continue this week, requiring alternating daytime closures of the rest areas.
Repair work to the parking lot pavement is being extended through Thursday, May 7 at the eastbound and westbound rest areas. The pavement is being prepared for repaving, which is planned for later in May.
Motorists may expect temporary closures of the rest areas during grinding work.
- Westbound Donner Summit Rest Area: Wednesday, May 6 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Eastbound Donner Summit Rest Area: Thursday, May 7 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the alternating Donner Summit rest area closures, the Gold Run rest areas along Interstate 80 will remain open for motorists and truckers.
Weather or unexpected events may delay or prolong the work.
